Showdown at Highway 134: Mi’kmaq Blockade against Fracking
October 22, 2013
Late last week in Canada, the R.C.M.P. raided an ongoing blocakde organized by Mi’kmaq peoples against fracking. The blockade had been blocking attempts by the Texas-based South Western Energy from doing their work and has cost the company an estimated $50,000 per day. In response to the raid, fracking equipment was seized and police cars set ablaze, while solidarity actions happened across North America.
Submedia.tv has produced a short video on the raid, providing some of the only coverage from behind police lines of the raid:
For additional background information, an earlier video by Submedia.tv provides a detailed look at the blockade.
