April 29, 2011
The Earth First! Newswire reported recently that federal prosecutors in Grand Rapids indicted Jesse Waters for his alleged role in sabotaging logging equipment near Mesick, Michigan. The sabotage took place more than ten years ago during an environmental campaign aimed at halting deforestation.
The indictment in the case alleges that Waters set fire to the logging equipment while others spray painted “ELF” and “Log In Hell” on nearby equipment.
Waters was taken into custody and released on a $25,000 unsecured bond according to The Grand Rapids Press.
Environmental activist Marie Mason admitted her involvement in the action and is currently serving 22 years in prison for an arson at Michigan State University (MSU).
